Today is September 16th, 2022, and today's feast is the Memorial of Saints Cornelius and Cyprian.

So today we're going to finish talking about the life of Blessed Carlo Acutus.

So Carlo died when he was just 15 years old.

And even before he died, Carlo's mother said that he would often think about the four last things, which are death, judgment,

heaven, and hell. So Catholics believe that these are the four last things that each person

will experience. Each person will die. Each person will face judgment from God. And then they

will either go to heaven or hell. So even if people

spend some time in purgatory, their final destination will be heaven. When Carlo was 15,

many of his classmates came down with the flu. When Carlo got sick, his parents just assumed that

he had the flu too. That happens a lot when you go to school. But after about six days, Carlo was still sick, his parents just assumed that he had the flu too. That happens a lot when you go to school.

But after about six days, Carlo was still sick and he was getting worse. So on October 8th,

his parents rushed him to the doctor. Now, when they thought he was just going to tell them that

Carlo had the flu, perhaps give him, you know, some medicine. Instead,

the doctor came back and said that Carlo had leukemia. This was very unexpected and very, very

dangerous and upsetting. When Carlo heard about his diagnosis, he was very calm and he began to prepare

for his death. He told his mother, I am happy to die

because I've lived my life without wasting even a minute of it doing things that wouldn't please God.

Carlo only lived three days after receiving his leukemia diagnosis. He was admitted to the hospital

and he immediately requested to receive anointing

of the sick. Carlos' mother and grandmother were able to stay with him in the hospital, and he passed
