| 0:00.0 | You're listening to Catholic Sprouts, the daily podcast for Catholic kids that strives to plant seeds of faith. |
| 0:29.8 | Hey there, Sprouts. Today is the final day of August, August 31st, 2022. Today is also the Feastay of St. Joseph of Arimathea. Now, St. Joseph of Arimathea is a man who we hear |
| 0:36.5 | about in the gospel. |
| 0:43.3 | He was a wealthy man who owned a tomb, the tomb that Jesus' body was laid in. |
| 0:50.0 | We also know that he worked to prepare Jesus' body for burial and even take him down from the cross. |
| 0:55.3 | Now, this week we are talking about how a person gets to heaven. |
| 0:57.9 | Something Jesus laid out for us in the gospel. |
| 1:05.1 | Step one, repent, look back on your life and feel sadness and a deep desire to do better. |
| 1:13.2 | Number two, have faith, have faith that Jesus can make you holy and he will answer all your prayers if it is what will make you holy. And then at number three, receive the grace through a sacrament. |
| 1:19.9 | So there are various sacraments to think about here. So if you repent, have faith, |

| 1:36.2 | You are great because you have done nothing that would jeopardize the state of your soul. |
| 1:43.0 | However, most of us were baptized and have committed sins since that time. |
| 1:51.8 | So then we are given grace through other sacraments, |
| 1:57.5 | namely through the sacrament of reconciliation. We go there where we go through this |
| 2:04.8 | cycle again. We repent. We have a deep desire to do better. We have faith that Jesus is |
| 2:12.3 | able to wipe out our sins and allow us to start again, and we receive the grace of the sacrament. |
| 2:20.4 | Now, additionally, we need strength to do both of these things. It takes quite a bit of |
| 2:26.4 | strength and resolve to honestly look back at our lives and say, wow, I could have done better. |
| 2:32.8 | I should have done better. I was created to be better. |
| 2:37.1 | It also takes quite a bit of strength to surrender our own agenda, our pride, our selfish desires, |
| 2:45.7 | and say, Lord, I trust in you. And so God in His goodness has given us another sacrament that offers us true |
