Today in the Catholic Sprouts podcast, we are going to talk about

St. John, the evangelist, who wrote the gospel of John, and how just some of the simple things that

he wrote in there help us to understand how profoundly important it was that Christ came to earth and lived as a human being.

So first of all, let's talk about St. John the Evangelist. Now, St. John the Evangelist was

an apostle of Jesus Christ. He knew him personally, and the gospel he wrote is based on the things that he saw and the things that he

heard Jesus do while he was here. St. John the Evangelist is a little bit interesting though,

and as you get older and are able to read the gospels a little bit more, you'll see that we

have four gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Now, the first three,

Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, those three gospels share a lot of similar stories. Sure,

they all have unique stories, but there's a lot of similarities between those three

gospels. St. John's gospel, however, is completely different.

Sure, there are a lot of overlapping stories once again, but there's a lot of new and different

stories. It's arranged differently. There's a lot more different discourses, and it's just

kind of a different perspective.

It's also where we get some of the beautiful teachings about the Eucharist.

It just really is a remarkable gospel that I encourage you to study when you get a little bit older.
