to do with that as people are at home looking for different investments. The total transaction

volume grew by more than 550%. It reached $15.8 trillion. See, big business.

But what is crypto?

Is it a currency?

Is it more like a stock?

Or how about a commodity, like a pork belly?

And how many Americans have skin in this game?

Well, our brand new NBC News poll shows that one in five Americans have engaged with

cryptocurrency, buying, selling, or simply holding onto it as an investment.

Billions have been made. Sam Bankman-Fried. He topped this list at the age of 29, just four

years after he started trading Bitcoin. But he did it because he saw a quick way to make money.

He admits that. Some people see numbers like this and wonder if that's all crypto is,

just simply a scheme to get rich

quick. So then that begs the question, is it safe? Is it a bubble that's ready to pop? Like what

happened to the housing market back in 2008 and 2009. 13 years after Bitcoin, though, went online.

Regulation is finally in the works. 37 states plus Puerto Rico are all working on some form of crypto regulation.

And as you'll see in a moment, the state of Wyoming is on the forefront.

They want to become the new frontier, have crypto-friendly regulation that they hope will make

it safer and make them the home of the crypto big business, a la what Delaware is to
