The Democratic National Convention wraps up with an emphasis on the middle class.

The DNC ended last night with Vice President Kamala Harris accepting the party's nomination and promising to focus on the middle class should she be elected in November.

We will create what I call an opportunity economy, an opportunity economy where everyone

has the chance to compete and a chance to succeed.

Marketplace of Nova Safer was there and has more.

In her acceptance speech, Kamala Harris said her so-called opportunity economy would include a tax cut, which would affect 100 million Americans.

She also assailed Donald Trump's promised across-the-board tariffs as a tax increase.

Many of the tax cuts enacted in 2017 by a Republican Congress and then President Trump

are said to expire at the end of next year so the next president will have a lot of

sway over which ones might be preserved. Harris's advisors have signaled that she would pursue or

expand upon many of the Biden administration's economic priorities,

including the current president's desire to maintain tax cuts for households

making less than $400,000.

Harris wants to maintain the child tax credit, raised to $3,600 in the American Rescue

Plan enacted in 2021.

It's set to expire at the end of next year. And she's pledged to build

three million new homes to alleviate a housing shortage. The Biden administration

proposed a two million home plan. In Chicago, I'm Novasavo for marketplace.

Almost half of corporate money donated in federal election so far this year

has come from cryptocurrency companies more than a hundred and nineteen million so far, according to Consumer Advocacy

Group Public Citizen.
