The Supreme Court has dealt a blow to whatever's left of the Voting Rights Act, and what they've

done is essentially implement a stay in regard to the Jerry Mandered Alabama map that,

of course, puts minorities at a significant disadvantage.

Now the Jerry Mandered map that's based on the latest census is not that different

from the previous Jerry Mandered map.

However, the outcome of this case could really determine whether or not the Voting Rights

Act has the teeth necessary to prevent race-based Jerry Mandering.

So let me give you the details on what has happened.

After a panel of three federal judges last month, throughout the map, and ordered state

lawmakers to redraw it, the High Court reversed the decision in a five to four ruling for

which Chief Justice John Roberts joined the three liberal justices in descent.
