Summary

The Bible tells us that there are “spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms,” meaning that there is an unseen battle being waged over us and around us. The evil forces are led by Satan, also known as the Devil, the Dragon, the Serpent (and other titles). Satan, also called Lucifer, was once a beautiful angel in heaven who recruited a third of the other angels in an attempted coup against God. But Satan lost that battle and was expelled from heaven, along with his army of angels (now known as “demons”), and he roams the earth today “like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” In today’s teaching entitled “Crushing Satan”, Pastor Gary explains what spiritual warfare is, how we can withstand it, and how God fights for His children!

0:00.0	We're going to finish out the book of Romans today by reading the last few verses of chapter 16.
0:05.5	We're going to start at verse 20.
0:08.0	And I will tell you up front that verse 20 is actually going to be our theme verse for today.
0:13.9	But I will read the rest of the verses just to close out the book.
0:17.9	So we're here in Romans 16.
0:19.7	I'm going to read starting at verse 20 down through the end of the chapter, through the end of the book. So we're here in Romans 16. I'm going to read, starting at verse 20,
0:21.6	down through the end of the chapter, through the end of the book. Romans 16, 20 says,
0:26.8	And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. Can I hear an amen to that?
0:34.5	The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you, amen. And then he has some farewell greetings.
0:41.0	He says, Timothy, my fellow worker, and Lucius, Jason, and Sosa Potter, my countrymen, greet you.
0:47.5	I, Tertius, who wrote this epistle, greet you in the Lord. By the way, it was Paul's custom to dictate his letters. And so Tertius is named here,
0:58.7	and it's the only time in Paul's epistles that the scribe is named. I mean, and he says,
1:04.9	I Tertius. So he's just like, I'm going to throw this in. Everybody knows I'm the one who wrote this
1:08.3	down. But it was inspired by the spirit to Paul.
1:12.3	Paul then dictates it.
1:13.6	Turteus here wrote it.
1:14.9	Paul commends him or Turteus commends himself.
1:17.8	Verse 23,
1:18.7	Gaius, my host and the host of the whole church greets you.
1:22.2	Erastus, the treasure of the city, greet you.
1:24.5	And Cortus, a brother.
1:26.2	The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all,
