chapter 15. We're looking at verses 21 through 25.

This is as Jesus is on his way to be crucified. So before we get into this somber subject matter,

let's pray together that God will help us see what we need to see in the suffering of our Savior.

Lord, God, we ask you to be our teacher today.

As we look in your Word and we seek to understand why this horrific suffering had to happen

and what came of it and how that applies to us,

which show us through your Holy Spirit,

how to understand your word today.

We ask it in Jesus' name, amen.

Okay, friends, Mark 15, 21 through 25,

Jesus has just been handed over to be crucified.

And it says,

And they compelled a passer-by, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross. So let's pause for a moment.

Jesus has already been scourged. It means he's been beaten with a whip. He has also been beaten with fists by the soldiers. He's had a crown of thorns
