Hello my friends welcome back to the epic gardening podcast this week I've

been waiting for for quite some time if you've been a follower on some of our

social channels you know I've become obsessed with crows I really have I don't

know exactly what hooked me perhaps there was just a summer where tons of

crows were in the backyard and then I tried to figure out something that some

way to interact with them and that's happened and you'll see it in the

coming days here on the show but we have Dr. Kaylee Swift on the podcast who

has a PhD in avian behavioral ecology from the University of Washington she

studied American crows while there with a special emphasis on behaviors

around death and it's currently a post-doctoral researcher at the

University of Washington where she's studying the breeding ecology of the

Tinian monarch I hope hopefully I said that right okay but I'm very very very

very excited to have you on the show everyone has been wanting us to talk

ever since I got into the crow world this crossover so I'm very excited to have

you great I'm super excited to be here okay so I know we're talking crows

versus Ravens today I legitimately do not know the difference whatsoever and I

do not know how to tell the difference I don't even know maybe I'm talking to

Ravens outside and not crows so how do you even differentiate yeah so I think

the most important background that folks need is that when we talk about crows

and Ravens we're discussing the group of birds called the corbids which is a

term some of your listeners might be familiar with and that's a big family of

birds that includes the crows Ravens jays scrub jays candid to jays nut crackers
