Hello and welcome to super great kid stories, wise tales from around the world, which

will make you laugh and sometimes cry, recommended for ages 5 to 105.

I'm Kim and I love stories. Hello and how are you? The story this week is from India, a big country

with a Himalayan mountains in the north and a great Indian ocean in the south. It also has lots

of exciting animals like tigers and elephants and snakes. Did you know the game snakes and ladders

began in India? Some people call it shoots and ladders and there are lots of languages spoken

in India including Punjabi which is the language you're going to hear in the story. The story is

all about some rather silly men who hear a tale about a snake monster who is said to live in a river

which they have to cross. Before we begin and find out if those men managed to cross the river

safely, can you think of another story you might have heard on super great kids with a snake in it?

There might be more than one while we have a quick word with the grown-ups.

Hello super great kids, did you know it's our third birthday this weekend?

Now there's a reason to be cheerful and to celebrate we're launching a drawing competition.

We're giving away five super great kids stories t-shirts and five super great coloring books.

All you have to do is send us a picture of your favourite how and why story from the past three

years. It might be tubes telling of how the whale got its sad song or Kate's how the river

Shannon became or how the rainbow got into the sky or whichever how and why story is your all-time

favourite. Label it, drawing competition and send your competition pictures to our Facebook page

Please send it to us by October the 5th and we'll ask story owl to help us judge since she's so

very wise and we'll announce the results by Thursday the 19th of October 2023.
