I'm your host Andrew Heath, and today is a tie tirade episode.

Sorry.

I try really hard not to go on tirades.

I do.

I try to keep the content pithy and interesting

and refrain from audio content which makes my blood pressure skyrocket.

But friends and neighbors, as a top hat wearing full-throated advocate of the miracle of free enterprise,

I get real bent out of shape by crony capitalists.

In a market economy, businesses innovate new ways to serve customers and make a buck

by doing so. For example, the time I try to make

magnetic chocolate, which is both delicious and you can stick to the front of your

refrigerator or under your car, very convenient. And if not for the

minor side effect of lethal gut torsion, I'd probably be a millionaire right now. And there'd be

a lot of sated Americans with extra pantry space.

And in a market economy, businesses also compete with one another

over who gets to best serve customers and thereby keep their money.

Usually that's by figuring out how to make goods cheaper

and underselling their competitors,

which results in a net gain for us consumers

since we keep more of our money.

Sometimes it's making a superior type of product which already exists.
