before we got to the school, huh? It would have been a better thing if you told me that you'd put it there.

Why? What happened? I went through the metal detector and they called me over and asked me to

empty my purse. They told me I couldn't bring a pocket knife into the courthouse. So you had to go back to the car?

You would think so.

But apparently, since I had signed in, I couldn't go back out without going to the exit and signing out.

And they wouldn't let me go across to the exit with a knife.

They said that when this sort of thing happens, they confiscate whatever you can't bring in.

But they give it back to you when you leave.
