In the ancient days, we were all one people.

We arrived from humanity's ancient cradle and set out to live in our new home.

Time passed, the wilds were tamed, and our ancestors rested, unified and happy.

This, the liars will tell you, was the first empire.

Eventually, though, our forebears grew distant, isolated from each other in space and in thought,

and so the people, our people, began to fear each other.

Soon a force rose, one calling for unification, but in reality vying for control.

Using the lie of the first empire, this force sought to conquer all others.

Physically, this force was defeated, but the idea of empire remained, seething in the hearts of many,

and so another took up the banner and embarked in a campaign of conquest.

This empire grew, shrank, conquered, and was conquered.

It spilled its own blood as readily as that of others.

Oh, there were revolutions, but those that were successful simply saw the revolutionaries become the new regime.

Thus, the Deathless Empire has continued through the centuries, born and reborn, fed by the sweat of its people and the blood of those it sees as foreigners.

Now the Deathless Empire squats above all, the Magellanic Authority,

gorging on the pain of its people to nurse its elite.

But not all is lost.

New champions arrive from the stars.
