Here is an email in the email bag. This one is from Zach. It looks like hello to all of you at the critical hit team. This is Zach.

My brother and I started a campaign with just us two and him is the DM and in the very first session I went to a city and ended up getting

a troll to the princess. The king had just died and whoever married the princess would become the new king because the king had no sons and the

king ship is being passed down from father to son. Anyway my question is this. What ideas do you guys have for dealing with the fact that an 18 year old first level

character is going to be crowned king in two years when the princess turns 18. She's not allowed to get married before then.

Well, I mean, there's years to level up. It's true. And I mean, there's something wonderful about the idea of an inexperienced, you know, kid from the other side of the

tracks all of us. What? Look at Wesley, the pirate, the, the, the, the dread pirate. Oh, that Wesley. Yeah, no, not Wesley.

What we're talking about fantasy here. I mean, Wesley, Wesley, Crusher is like the epitome of the direction that that can go right where it's like a kid walks in is like, hi, you are the plot now.

Yeah. Oh, yeah. But at least the dread pirate Roberts, you know, he went out. He had adventures. He came back to the princess and ended up getting wed to her and having all sorts of

adventures and those two had to have been like 20 something. They were apart from one of their for many years. So I mean, personally, I would look to that story as a, as a inspiration of, yeah, here's a first level

character. He's going to go out and have some adventures, gain some experience to learn what it means to be king and rule a country and comes back in time to to wed the princess or maybe she goes on the

adventures with him. I don't know. Yeah, if you want to go look into some history, there are a lot of rulers and in the ancient world that were super young when they came to

power. Mary Queen of Scots was 18 Emperor, a legopulous was like 15. I want to say there was an emperor of the king dynasty who was like 14 years old. And one of the

tolamies was a baby kid, but I really like the idea of a first level character being the king, not just because I like the idea of kind of a, you know, John Goodman in king Ralph kind of

situation, but also because it could be really fascinating if you're playing this in a straightforward kind of, you know, medieval D&D, whatever you want to call it setting,

setting where he's like, I don't know. I just imagine that like some person who's the ability to cast charm person would take over your kingdom really quickly.

Yeah, you want to be immune to charm person. I would also like to say that your sibling is much nicer than any of my siblings have ever been in any game because my siblings

would have killed me in the first season. So it just it really depends what the themes of the game are. If it is about, you know, finding loot and all that stuff, I guess really if you're the king that no one can tell you know,

so if you're like, I want to go into the dungeon you guys, then you're like, okay, your majesty, have fun.

If you could treat it, I was sorry.

If the themes are different, then that could certainly be an issue, but you know, you can always be like a Richard the lion hearted type king and just go fighting wars all the time.
