0:20.0

We got off that awful boardwalk, but Red Riggle, I have a question for you before we get started and we kind of discussed this just a little bit after last weeks recording.

0:31.0

But to me that entire Toads Boardwalk thing where we're constantly being distracted and kept on the path and kept doing all those things really felt like a secret skills challenge.

0:43.0

And I'm wondering why you didn't make it just a straight out skills challenge for that for that episode.

0:51.0

Well, I was originally planning on making it a skills challenge, but everybody was kind of having a good time like experimenting with what was happening and talking to people.

1:10.0

So you know things like combat like skills challenges, they kind of codify time and moves and character interactions on. Yeah. So they are good for depicting certain things, but the kind of as we got going with that, I couldn't find a good place to be like, OK, now we're going to start this thing where you guys are trying to get out the boardwalk.

1:37.0

And you're right, it was sort of a secret skills challenge I did ask for a lot of roles and they did essentially roles did dictate how you guys went about doing it, but I think personally I feel that a very important skill for game masters to learn is when to take their plans and alter them or throw them out.

2:06.0

Together or just kind of let let the players take the lead. So that's kind of what I did there is I just put it in the court of the players and just reacted to it, which really just turned it into our regular role play thing with some roles to to adjust what was happening.

2:27.0

Yeah, I know I really enjoyed that was a lot of fun, but then after we were done, I was like, wait, that was just a skills challenge. So I enjoyed how that came out and I wanted to make sure that you weren't secretly you know keeping track of things behind and altering.

2:40.0

It wasn't truly a true skills challenge as much of it as it was just role play.

2:45.0

I mean, that that would have been my prerogative as a game master to have been keeping track of it, but the issue with skill challenges specifically is that they're meant to be fair as far as the spotlight.

3:07.0

Yeah, and so you know with this I would it would have felt weird for get to be like, okay, well, I'm going to try this again and for me to be like, no, Randas try something.

3:18.0

Right. Right.

3:20.0

It's more much more of a free flow thing, but you know, I did keep track of what everybody's good and bad roles were and they you know cost direct impact into what was happening.

3:30.0

Yeah, I think somebody lost their little troll doll.

3:35.0

I don't think that was a role, which is my refusal to make a role and put us further into the skill challenge.

3:43.0

And yet you're refusal to make a role also had significant outcomes.

3:47.0

Sometimes these things happen, you know, yep. So anyway, last time.

3:52.0

I'm sorry what.

3:57.0

Well, I think we are caught up on just about everything, right? We're in the tea house. We have to do some gambling.

4:04.0

You've decided to do some gambling yet. Well, at least Ken decided to do some gambling.

4:09.0

What? How is every I'm curious real quick. What is everyone's stand on a games of chance.
