The Caldian community is one of the oldest in Iraq.

This population has literally thousands of years of history, even predating Christianity

in this specific area of the world.

And Caldian Christians have been in northern Iraq since the very first days of Christianity.

And there's a very real possibility that gets more real with every passing year

that this is the end of their story in this land and in this place.

Since the US invasion in 2003, Iraq's Christian population has dropped from about 1.2 million

to under 250,000. That's an 80% drop in under two decades.

They lost our dignity here.

I'm sorry to say that.

We don't have dignity in our country.

This population is representative of a larger phenomenon that's happening in Iraq,

happening in the Middle East, which is these religious minorities are getting pushed out of their

historic homes. And that is a huge threat, the democracy and stable future of these countries in the region.
