This is Martha McCallum. And I'm really glad to be joined today by Bill Malugin, who is at the border.

And I know you see him all of the time reporting from the border.

And Bill, you've done such an extraordinary job on this beat. I think that your reporting has

really pushed this story to the forefront. And now we're seeing a lot of other news outlets

believe that this is a pressing crisis that you have been reporting on for all of these months.

But one of the things that I always like to do at the start of these untold story podcasts

is to find out a little bit of your untold story.

So can you tell our viewers a little bit about you and your background where you grew up

and how you got to where you are today?

Yeah, absolutely.

First off, thanks for having me.

My background is I grew up in Orange County, California, went to high school out there, kind of

by Laguna Beach, and then I went to college at Arizona State.

I got my broadcast journalism degree from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism there,

and then I got a minor in Spanish.

And then my first TV job was the Fox affiliate in El Paso, Texas for two years,
