Good morning to you. It is Saturday, October the second. I'm Ali Velshi. We've got a big new development in the investigation into the deadly January 6th insurrection this morning. The House

Select Committee investigating the Capitol Hill attack is putting some bite behind its bark. The chair of that committee, Congressman Benny Thompson, is threatening to issue so-called criminal referrals for people who defy the committee's subpoenas.

The only thing I can say is the committee will probably, to those who don't agree to come in voluntarily, will do criminal

referrals and let that process work out.

Now, that warning follows a wave of new subpoenas issued this week, targeting key allies

of the failed former president of the United States, allies who helped organize the rally

that took place just before the Capitol was attacked.

It's 11 people in total now, including Amy Kramer, who's the founder and chair of Women for America

First. It's a conservative group which helped organize rallies on and before January 6th.

And others, like Katrina Pearson, who's a former Trump campaign aide, who was reported to have been a

liaison between the White House and the January 6th rally organizers. They are expected to testify

before the House Select Committee in the coming weeks, and the panel is asking them for

records about the planning, the funding, and the participation in those preceding rallies and bus tours.
