As I mentioned last week, there's not going to be a new episode of history of Japan this week.

It's coming up on the end of the academic year in the United States.

Life is very busy.

And I'm afraid I just had to decide between being able to get my job done, being able to sleep,

and researching and recording a new episode.

So instead, I'm cross-dropping an episode from my other podcast with my wife, Criminal Records. I've done this a few times before.

We have some good Japan-related content on there every so often, and I think you all will find

this particular story, which is from the 1980s, rather entertaining and interesting.

Just as a heads-up, criminal records, is a bit of a different show audience-wise.

And in particular, there is a little bit of, let's call it, colorful language.

So I've marked this episode explicit and just be aware of that if you're listening.

We were talking about the names of our episodes because some of our most interested cases are about criminals that people have never heard of. So often our episodes are just random looking names. And you brought this one to me

and you said, okay, I want to do this case, but instead of naming it after a criminal, you're

going to have to call the episode the Yakuza rocket launcher case.

And I am ready to go.
