Last week, something unexpected happened at the top of the Metropolitan Police.

We've just got some breaking news that she's on to, bring people listening, Dame Crested Dick,

who was saying at around 11 o'clock this morning that she had no intention of resigning.

It's now being reported that she's resigned.

This is allegedly after Sadik Khan, the Mayor of London, said he no longer had confidence in her leadership.

So what changed?

She's apologised for many of the sexual misconduct cases.

She's apologised for Wayne Cousins.

She's apologised for the case of Stephen Port, and her face, I think, has just become synonymous really with failings and apologies.

A week on from her resignation, was Crested Dick to blame for the mess at the Met.

Was it a case of a few rotten apples, or has the disease spread deep into the roots of policing in the UK?
