Okay, so I live off Lake Merit, downtown Oakland, which is wonderful, right?

Except tonight, walking around the lake, you can see them.

The naked tail scurrying about nasty, attacking discarded chicken nuggets.

Had to attack the baby ghostlings if the mom was not paying attention.

Swamp rats, fat evil godless.

And last week at 1.37 a.m. when I hear creeping from my walls, shittering, coming from my ceiling,

almost scream because I know there are rats.

Swamp rats in my house every sound, every settling of the 70 year old structure rats.

On my clean kitchen floor, rats swimming up through my toilet rats in my cupboards, rats.

No sleep.

Next morning I caught a rat man and begged him to please come right away.

He goes around sitting traps.

I tell him I can hear him.
