well you know i got a whole lot of folks outside my office door right now

really want to talk to me

so i figured this would be as good a time as any to call up a complete stranger

and strike up a conversation yeah yeah i understand you recently met with some

civil rights leaders uh... yes that was also a conversation we had a conversation

yeah me and civil rights people had a dialogue we started a dialogue

did they change your mind about literally anything

well no but the dialogue was good and it'll be ongoing okay i see

i mean i don't think anyone went into that meeting that dialogue

with any expectation that either side was going to change their actual position

i wasn't going to change my vote any more night we're going to stop thinking that

black people should be in franchise so voter suppression in a democracy

justice in a big concern for you senator no big deal
