0:00.0 | Welcome to the intersection of faith and culture. Thanks for joining us on The Wall Builders |
0:10.2 | show. We're taking on the hot topics of the day from a biblical, historical, and constitutional |
0:14.5 | perspective. Hot topic of not just the day, but the century. It's right, a hundred years ago, |
0:20.0 | the Scopes trial. You know, we have this perception of it that's very different from what actually happened. I'm Rick Green here with David and Tim Barton. And David, you mentioned this. I think it was on a good news Friday. I can't remember. For some reason, we kind of covered this really lightly on a program a couple of weeks ago. And so later in the program, Eric Hoven's going to be with us talking about not only the Scopes trial, but also just how to address this issue today and really start with this for our apologetics, because if we don't get creation right, everything kind of falls apart downstream from that. So David and Tim, this is going to be a great interview to have, but it's also just kind of following up on what we touched on a few weeks ago. Yeah, it is. And it's interesting that when you go to the Bible, where does the Bible start? It starts with creation. It starts with in the beginning of it was God and God made. And so that is the beginning point for Jewish faith and for Christian faith. That is where the Bible starts. And if you leave that and get away from that, then you can have serious troubles. |
0:55.7 | And it's the same with science. That is where the Bible starts. And if you leave that and get away from that, then you can have |
1:12.1 | serious troubles. And it's the same with science and what we do with government and everything else |
1:17.2 | as well. Well, and this isn't just the beginning point for Christians and Jewish faith. It's really |
1:22.3 | the beginning of every worldview. It's where did we come from? How did we get here? And this is a foundational, |
1:28.8 | fundamental question that every single faiths or individuals' worldview must account for. |
1:34.5 | It's the reason Christianity makes the most sense, because there's far more compelling evidence |
1:38.9 | that suggests that there is a God who created the world. As we know, scientists now are |
1:42.8 | advocating that there is an intelligent designer, even though there's disputes in the scientific community of what that |
1:48.5 | intelligent designer looks like or who it is or what that actually means. But they're actually |
1:53.7 | finally acknowledging that the world is too complex. There's too many moving parts and pieces. |
1:59.8 | There's too much that reveal a designer, intelligent in the construction and orchestration |
2:06.4 | for it to have happened by chance. |
2:08.4 | And so this is not just foundational for Christianity. |
2:11.7 | This is foundational for everybody's worldview. |
2:13.9 | And it's really convenient that even though as Christians we live by faith, there is so much |
2:18.0 | evidence to support our faith. |
2:21.1 | You know, it's interesting, too, that this is not a new issue. |
2:24.0 | We like to think that it is or the scope of trial, you know, 100 years. |
