Sunrise, Day 5.

Yahweh looks again to the waters.

They look lonely.

His voice booms.

Let the water team with living creatures.

Idea meets power meets execution, father, son, and spirit.

And an underwater universe materializes.

Tiny single-celled organisms, diatoms and cyanobacteria, blue-green and light-hungry,

and then larger, multicellular things,, green, and brown, algae now exists.

Gobbs of it, growing rapidly, slurping up carbon dioxide, rich in proteins, vitamins, and

omega-3 fatty acids, delicious to, well, creatures who don't yet exist.

But then, a tiny orange thing with a trumpet snout and a grasping tail.

Gills to sift oxygen and curious eyes, its curved body dotted with bright orbs that match its skin color.

The whole thing is the size of a grain of rice.

Thousands of years from now, underwater explorers will discover it and name it with affection,

a pygmy seahorse.

A double-sided carapace closed over a tangle of blood vessels and muscles, two eyes fixed at the end of stalks, six jointed legs and two arms culminating in claws startlingly powerful for its size.

Yahweh considers and covers the cream-colored shell with red spots outlined in darker crimson.

Calico crabs have arrived on the planet.

A fleshy thing with eight tentacles connected to its head,

three hearts, and an uncanny ability to camouflage itself.

Oh, and smart enough to solve puzzles and hold grudges.
