Summary

On September 1, 2019 Renee Zantay lost her property, job, and community to Hurricane Dorian- a direct hit to the island that knocked out power on the for 475 days. In the wake of this catastrophe Renee's  husband suggested that she should follow her dream and become a potter. Renee miraculous found gas kiln and wheel. Using the power of social media Renee started selling product before her first firing. As an avid self promoter she started using hashtags like #Notatrainedkilntechnician. to gain traction. Renee now volunteers to teach a homeschool class that she funds with my ceramics.

and I am trying to get some of my work done early because it's going to be hot in the old studio up here

tomorrow where when I would normally do all of this. It's supposed to be 113 here in the Pacific

Northwest. Now, I know that's relative. I wrote my friend who lives, I play him chess all the time

on an app that I play, chess by post. So I play him,

and I was writing him saying, it's supposed to be 106 today. And that was yesterday when it was

Saturday, which was a very hot day here. In fact, the hottest it's ever been here in Vancouver,

Today, which is Sunday, it's supposed to be 115.

So we're going to be breaking a record today.

So I wrote him and I told him all this and he says, dude, I live in Arizona.

It's always hot here. So I get it. It's all relative. It's all relative.

Anyhow, we're going through the heat wave this week and it's supposed to be just hot all week long,

which is like a thing that's going on across the entire northwest.
