Welcome to the Andy Stanley Leadership Podcast, a conversation designed to help leaders

0:06.0

go further faster. On today's podcast, we'll conclude a two-part conversation on creating

0:11.6

a culture of continual improvement. Andy, as we wrap up this conversation, I thought

0:16.5

it'd be a good idea to remind our listeners about why continual improvement is an important

0:21.3

topic. So years ago, I sat down and asked the question,

0:23.8

what is momentum and how do you create it? Because it really is the leader's best friend.

0:28.2

So in organizations, I came up with this formula that we have used and taught for years and

0:33.6

years and years that momentum is basically the results of new improved and improving,

0:37.8

new improved and improving. Anything that's new creates momentum, it may be negative momentum,

momentum, but then the key is improving, so new improved and improving. So when we talk

0:52.6

about continual improvement, we are talking about one of the critical elements of creating

1:11.2

them to this idea of continual improvement. So as we're a fresher, the six steps are name it,

1:17.5

brand it, wear it, teach it, institutionalize it, and lastly recognize it.

1:24.1

Yeah, and this is a template that organizational leaders can drop many things into. So for

1:29.1

the next few minutes, what we're going to do is take those six ideas that we talked about last

1:32.6

month and ask the question, how do we apply those to this idea of continual improvement in

1:37.8

order to make that part of an organizational culture? Because those six things that you just

1:40.9

listed, these are how you implement any kind of culture in an organization. So let's talk

...
