Joe Gallo of Merrimack University in Andover, Massachusetts, which I learned while we were recording the episode, so that was pretty embarrassing.

But Smalls, this is a guy who played at Merrimack, and now he's the head coach there after he was also an assistant at Merrimack and in between stops at Dartmouth, Robert Morris and Hoop Group elite director, so another Hoop Group alum.

And he was a guy that we knew back in Hoop Group. He was director when we were runners there, and a guy who has now gone

back to his alma mater and won a first round NCAA tournament game each of the two years he's been there.

So for a young guy, pretty pretty successful to start but a pretty funny

guy and enjoyable to reconnect with him small as I thought what did you think yeah

think a guy who just kind of he embodies what we've been talking about he you know never got ahead of himself he did his time as we say as an assistant coach

but he continued to work towards his goals and when he got the opportunity

to work at Mary Mac College, his almaider, like you said, he took it and he's been really successful his first two years and I think he's going to be very successful there in the future as well as he continues to compete in one of the better conferences in the country.

Yeah, really down to earth guy too.

Like didn't oversell himself and obviously we haven't had really anybody on who's done that but you know kind of

dispelled some rumors about how to recruit dispelled some rumors on how to use their

resources talking about his staff talking about you know how you travel in

Division 2 and we also talked we had a pretty interesting conversation so

he was at Robert Morris and they won a first four game a couple of years back

against North Florida and then got an opportunity

to play Duke in the first round.

And we recorded this, I believe Thursday morning of the first round of the NCAA tournament.

So we recorded this about a week and a half ago or two weeks ago and so we talked about what it was like to be in a 16 versus one game and I don't want I'm not spoiling anything here but we do have a coach speak from Ryan Odom before they played Virginia and I would be stunned if anyone who listens to this podcast doesn't know that
