And I know this is still the first, I guess, the first full week of the year.

And I want to talk to you about Bible reading as we begin the show. And I'm not the kind of guy

who makes New Year's resolutions. I guess in the past I've done that. I did notice that I went

to the gym last night. It was the first time in about four weeks because, no, more than that, like six weeks

because I had a couple of surgeries that I had to recover from.

It was mobbed out, man.

Then I remember, oh, yeah, this is first of the year.

Everybody mobs the gym for the first two weeks, and then they forget about their resolutions.

I don't do that.

So to me, every month is the same as the next kind of deal.

Now, I do make plans for things, and every month I set goals for the month, but I don't do so much the resolution.

It just turned out that I think this is a good time to talk about

Bible reading. If you're into making resolutions, all right. I'm not, here's a liability. I've

just started reading atomic habits, which is about getting things done. It's a bestseller.

And I've just pre-read it. I've gone through the whole thing kind of briefly.

Now I'm going to read it more carefully. But they do make the point that setting goals is not as important as establishing systems.

And that's more effective about getting things done. And I realize that my own Bible reading is not a goal. It's a system.

And it has helped me to accomplish now here,

even though I'm much later in my Christian life on a schedule of sorts, reading through the entire Bible twice now, and I'm starting my third time. Now, we've talked about this on the program, and I was actually initially inspired about the approach that I'm taking now to my Bible reading by Jay Warner Wallace, who many years ago, maybe eight or nine or ten years ago, when he was talking to the youth at what was then called

Rethink in Orange County, and he was trying to inspire them to take their scripture reading
