2018 based on a 2013 novel of the same name. This was a highly successful film sold as a

romantic comedy, but as you heard in earlier episodes, there's a lot more to this movie than what

you might first expect. This week we're reviewing the heroic journey

archetypes, and then we spend time discussing what writers can take away from studying this film.

So let's look at the heroic journey archetypes. So these are from, you know, probably originally from Youngian psychology,

and then Campbell mechanized these in the hero's journey. And then Sean took that further,

brought it kind of into the 21st century and added cognitive science and everything to the

heroic journey. But the archetypes have pretty much stayed the

same. So first one is the heroic agent. So who do you have for the heroic agent?

I think this went pretty easy. I have Rachel. And I went ahead and added Nick in as well

because he's sort of, they're navigating this as a couple.

He's like a sub-protagonist, I would say.

But he's sort of, right, this is about their journey as a couple.

So I kind of lump him in together with Rachel.
