I came across this blog post from five years ago on a wealth of common sense.com

where the author Ben Carlson had dug up an old interview from Peter Lynch that that famed stock investor from Fidelity Magellan Fund in the 1990s,

and this was on frontline in the mid-90s.

Here is what Peter Lynch had to say about market losses.

If you're in the market, you know there are going to be declines.

And they're going to happen in every couple of years,

you're going to get a 10% correction.

That's a euphemism for losing a lot of money rapidly.

Now that's a correction. A bear market is a 20-25-30 percent decline in the markets.

They're going to happen.
