I probably know less about late night TV than everybody else.

I became a late night host the way that people become realtors. I didn't set out in my life to be a late night host. I grew up in a different country. We didn't have that. No one grows up wanting to be a realtor. You just put you, when you get to be a realtor, you think, well, you know, it's not a bad job. It's pretty good job and I kind of like it. What happened is that Letterman, David,

doing the time slot.

CBS were paying no attention to me because they didn't own the time slot.

I mean, basically they were paying me to do a show that they weren't paying any attention to.
