For an alliance system that was built for the Cold War, there's quite a bit of

renovation to be undertaken to bring it up to speed for the 21st century.

It's actually the case that these so-called middle powers, although they're not as militarily

capable as great powers or larger powers, can they're not as militarily capable as, you know, great powers or

larger powers, can actually bring quite a bit to the table.

It seemed to us that we were looking at a picture where Washington's ability to sort of get

its arms around Silicon Valley and the degree to which Silicon Valley was or was not aligned

with the national interest

was really slipping. Well, this means recognizing that there's a battle underway between forces
