I'm Chase Parham, and my guest is Hunter Carpenter, an Ole Miss alumnus who has a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, and a law degree.

Actually, from the University of Mississippi.

He's a partner in Eritae Energy, former partner at Redbird Capital,

and has been in private equity for the majority of his professional career. And when I was thinking

about what if private equity becomes even more of a rule in college athletics? Is that possible?

Let's examine it a little bit, and that's the goal of today's podcast with Hunter.

We discuss Utah's model.

They're a guinea pig of sorts in the private equity world of college athletics,

simply looking for more capital and more money in whatever way it can get it.

And then we also focus in on Ole Miss a little bit.

They've got P3 partnerships going on between new dorms, the Vault Hemingway Entertainment District Project, and other potential things on the table.

Hunter was on the men's basketball team for four years in the late 90s.

He's also on the Ole Miss Foundation Board.

He's a member of the Executive committee of the foundation and a chairman

of the investment committee for the university's endowment. So a lot of different ways that

Hunter is involved at Ole Miss, has been involved at Ole Miss and is a great person to talk to
