Today I'll be talking with the founder of Marked by COVID,

Kristen Orkiza, about her organization who just finished up COVID Lobby Days,

hashtag COVID Lobby Days by the way and I have some good news on that front.

Kristen emailed me after we sat down for this interview that you're about to hear,

to tell me that Senator Warren announced she is introducing a resolution for a permanent COVID

memorial day on the first Monday of March. That is a companion to Orkiza's house resolution and

mirrors the 165 mayors she organized to issue resolutions in their own cities. That's awesome work.

Hey everybody, welcome back. Today I am very happy to be talking to someone who I've been going

back and forth with on the internet and social media for a while sharing tweets, retweeting.

She's a co-founder of Marked by COVID and her name is Kristen Orkiza. Kristen, welcome.

Welcome to me. I'm so excited to be here and to finally meet you in a kind of more real way.

Yes, absolutely. We've been doing so much stuff behind the scenes over the past six months or so.

And I'm glad to finally have you on because I wanted to talk to you about your organization.

You co-founded. It's called Marked by COVID and I was hoping you could tell us a little bit about

why you started this organization and what the mission is. Absolutely. So we are a nonprofit working

to ensure that the people who've been most impacted and harmed by the virus are not forgotten

in the response and the recovery. And we're also working for accountability and justice
