The economic collapse caused by the COVID-19 pandemic has shattered many records, and it's still unfolding.

This crisis has served to expose some of the vulnerabilities of the economy, and one of those is that we have such a large number of people living from check to check.

Kathleen Day is a finance lecture at Johns Hopkins University and author of the recent book, Broken Bargain,

Banks, Bailouts, and the struggle to tame Wall Street. The people most at risk in a shuttered

economy are often the same people who are most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.

In the near term, we're all focused on defeating the virus, but business leaders are now

beginning to figure out how do we come back.

And our view is quite clearly that we can come back both cleaner and importantly more resilient.

Matt Rogers is a senior partner at McKinsey & Company and co-author of a recent report

addressing climate in a post-pandemic world.

The usual economic spark plugs like cheap energy aren't providing the boost they normally do,

but that opens a chance to think differently about coming out of this economic crisis.
