And when the morning was over, David sent and brought her to his house.

And she became his wife and bore him a son.

But the thing that David had done displeased the Lord.

Thus ends a chapter that would define David's life in so many ways as he sinned against a woman,

he sent against her husband, and ultimately, did you hear the last phrase there in 2nd Samuel 1127?

The thing David had done displeased the Lord.

And picture David in this story.

He has sinned against God and he has tried to cover it up with murder, with sending Bathsheba's

husband, Uriah, to the front lines to be killed.

And David thinks, okay, I've covered this up, but the reality is, and what we're reminded of in 2 Samuel chapter 11,

verse 27, is that we cannot cover up our sin before a holy God who knows everything.

And we are foolish to think we can.

And at the same time, oh, there's so much to pray.

And so I want to lead us to pray prayers of confession today in all of our hearts based on 2nd Samuel

Chapter 11.

And I'm going to trust the Holy Spirit to lead in your heart, just as he's leading in my heart, that God would help us to see

our sin, specific sin in our lives for what it is, and to turn from it. And in this, and this is

the beauty of confession before a God who's not only holy, but he's gracious and merciful.

Why would we try to cover up our sin when God has made a way
