The Bear is often praised for how accurately it portrays restaurant culture, and for that, you have Courtney Storer to thank. Storer spent years working in the kitchens of famed spots like Verjus and Animal and eventually became the culinary director for the Los Angeles restaurants Jon & Vinny’s, where she spent six years growing the business into the iconic institution it is today. So when Storer’s brother Christopher decided to create a show set in a restaurant, he knew just who to call. As a culinary producer on the show, Storer stepped in to advise on everything from chopping technique to the terminology used to communicate in the kitchen. But before Storer was leading culinary teams in a variety of environments, she actually began her career working in HR at UPS and Whole Foods. To hear how Storer has pivoted her career time and again, tune in to this week’s episode.
