One person has been shot, writers have clashed with police, we've seen the Confederate flag raised, glass windows being smashed.

They have ascended the stairs to the Senate chamber to try an attempted coup to overturn an election President Trump lost.

And the argument that's being made tonight is did Donald Trump incite the violence, incite the mob with incendiary words at his rally, yes today,

but also messages that he's given throughout, which has always given latitude to his supporters while criticizing those who oppose him.

It has been a night where American democracy that has been a beacon for over 200 years suddenly looked fragile.
