Welcome to the beat. I'm Melissa Murray in for Ari Melburgh. We start tonight with the fight over

women's rights. Just days before the 50th anniversary of the landmark Roe versus Wade decision,

in a moment, one of the country's most prominent voices on this issue will join us, former

planned parenthood president, Cecile Richards, along with former Biden press secretary,

Jen Saki. And later in the show, Joyce Vance, joining us to talk about a stunning rebuke from a

federal judge to former President Trump, plus Howard Dean discussing the GOP's continued dysfunction.

And once again, the clash over reproductive freedom is spilling into the streets.

Anti-abortion activists are holding their annual D.C. rally. The first so-called March for Life event

since conservatives on the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. In that explosive decision,

they not only overturned that landmark

decision, the court also galvanized liberals and triggered backlash at the polls. And today,

they also triggered counter-protests. While the march began as a response to Roe, we don't

end as a response to Roe being overturned. Why? Because we're not yet done.

I am here. It is to show that we will not let America be bullied out of the right to abortion.

Everything that happened before Roe, that was just the preseason.

Abortion is health care. Abortion is essential. Not if Roe, that was just the preseason. Abortion is health care.

Abortion is essential.

Not if Roe would be averse, but when.

And so to think that, oh, our work is done, well, our work just begun.

It felt more pressing this year.

I mean, at this point, we no longer have a constitutionally protected right to abortion.
