0:11.6

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We are getting to the end. I cannot believe it. We are getting to the end of 2016.

0:18.6

My sweet man is back on the podcast with me today.

0:21.3

We're on a little bit of a Christmas break doing stuff a little different. Wait, this is the break? Right. A moment of silence for you and my never getting a break. I know that's what it feels like. Our kids are like on Christmas Eve, you know, when we were recording, they were like, what are you going to do that? I'm like, well, you know, the podcast doesn't stop, but we actually really enjoy doing it.

0:21.1

So it's fun. on Christmas Eve, you know, when we were recording, they were like, what are you going to do that? I'm like, well, you know, the podcast doesn't stop, but we actually really enjoy doing it.

0:40.6

So it's fun and it's exciting for us just to be able to talk about, you know, things that are happening in the culture.

0:46.2

Actually, while we were recording a couple of new ones last week, the decision of the Obama administration made to like turn a blind eye, basically abstained from the vote at the United Nations, therefore putting Israel, one of our best, if not our best, single best ally in the Middle East in jeopardy kind of happened. And that was talking around the kitchen table. So really, what I do at the podcast is sort of carry on my kitchen

table conversations. Wouldn't you love to be at our kitchen table? You know, we're not much for

1:17.4

small talk around the kitchen table. I mean, we do a lot of small talk, but we really are talking

1:21.9

about kind of big issues, the big issues of life, which has always been kind of a hallmark of our home, I think.

1:28.1

I do so too. Yeah. And I think I kind of, my grandparents were like that. Your family, I mean, they talked about, I mean, they weren't sitting around just talking about fishing, although we did do that. Well, and I think, too, you know, for us is, you know, we homeschool, obviously, and we try to raise our kids we we're trying to raise adults that are discerning. And I want my, and sometimes that works better than at other times.

1:48.1

Maybe not. But I really want, you know, I want my kids to be seeing, in walking through things,

1:55.1

issues that are in cultural issues and even, you know, social issues they go through to try to see

2:00.3

what God's word says, how they should act, how they should respond.

2:02.6

And it's part of educating our kids, is having them be a part of our family discussion of things like this. Unless it's something that's too, because there's been some topics that we've not talked around our kids because it was just, they weren't ready for it. Right. I mean, obviously, it depends on how old your kids are and what they're ready to hear.

2:00.5

Right. It's not like we it depends on how old your kids are and what they're ready to hear.

2:19.3

Right. It's not like we're bringing every subject to the dinner table. No, but we do bring a lot of subject to the dinner table. And I think this is kind of another, we know kind of what today, when it take off a little bit about what we were talking about the other day. So on Monday, the day after Christmas, we were talking about kind of the difference

2:34.8

between knowing theology and really being able to listen with ears that are discerning, because

2:41.8

so many so-called Christian teachers and authors and bloggers and speakers are straying from the

2:49.0

authority of scripture. And so I thought today is probably

2:51.9

a good opportunity because we're heading into 2017. And I think, you know, people talk about New

2:55.7

Year's resolutions. I don't really make New Year's resolutions because they just
