Summary

I had some personal highs this April, and also a strange feeling (for me, someone who is constantly in motion, always moving forward) of being a bit unmoored—a reminder of needing to wait, of letting cycles be, of accepting stillness (or trying to, at least). I’ve also been thinking of a (related) Carissa Schumacher metaphor—the idea that each of us prefers a different part of the cycles of life: seeding, growing, or harvesting. I’m reflecting on all of this—and a few other new things that have become very meaningful to me—in this month’s solo episode. For the show notes, head to my Substack. Hi, it's Elise Lunan, host of Pulling the Thread, and it's time for our monthly solo.

0:13.2

I've written and talked about this before, but I really love when I get to meet pulling

0:17.2

the thread listeners out in the world. This never gives me an identity crisis.

0:21.4

Instead, I feel so grateful for how wonderful, cool, wise, smart, and curious you all are.

0:27.1

It's wild. So if you're listening right now, I feel I can safely assume that you're deeply

0:31.8

curious and that you have some big questions about our world, our culture, and what part

0:35.8

we're meant to play in it all.

If you also happen to be neurodivergent, I wanted to tell you about another podcast called Hyperfocus with Ray Jacobson. It gets at the kind of big questions we're interested in, but from an

ADHD lens. Ray is a mental health journalist who was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 21. On her

0:56.4

podcast, she speaks with scientists, doctors, researchers, and other experts. In every episode,

1:01.5

Ray and her guest dive into studies, headlines, and questions around neurodivergence, mental

health, and well-being. Most recently, it was really interesting to learn from Ray about why

1:10.6

there's no gold standard

for adult ADHD tests, but she has covered so many fascinating and critical topics, including

1:17.9

the potential links between ADHD and chronic pain, the future of special education in our

country, the language we use in this space, advice from a financial therapist, support for parents, and more.

Thank you. Hi, it's Elise Lunan, host of Pulling the Thread.

On this show, we pull apart the web in which we all live to understand who we are and why we're here.

My hope is that these conversations spark moments of resonance and plant tiny seeds of awareness
