Hello, this is all out politics, I'm Adam Bolton.

Well, seven days ago on the podcast, we discussed whether Boris Johnson's new Brexit proposals were a game changer.

But in the last week, we found ourselves in the familiar territory

of reporting pessimism all round about reaching a deal.

This morning the Irish leader Leo Varadke has said it will be very difficult for the UK and the EU to reach a Brexit agreement before October 31st.

The German leaders told the Prime Minister that leaving the EU with a deal is now overwhelmingly

unlikely.

Angela Merkel and Boris Johnson have spoken on the phone.

This is being seen by number 10 by sources inside, Downing Street behind me, as what's

called a clarifying moment in these talks.

Perhaps the moment when the government realises that Boris Johnson's plans are a no-go.

Is the deal still possible? Thank you.

I think the deal is possible and very difficult, but possible.
