From the land of the free and the home of the chiefs this is the

locked on chiefs podcast welcome back this is locked on chiefs the chiefs are

sitting in a quagmire waiting to get something done and eventually it's got to break loose.

That's really where we're at at this point in the off season and we've talked a little bit about just what has to happen.

Matt Derek's going to join us here again in a little bit. We're going to go over the

Jones situation and how it plays it to everything else because it is again one of the roadblocks right now to getting anything else done together with Sammy

Walkins the two of them have so much tied up in the cap between the tag and Sammy's contract, it is difficult to do anything but the Chiefs did make that

sign and we talked about yesterday just for a quarterback really low-end contracts so they were

able to squeeze it in there.

But at this point, it's all turning towards,

when is this going to happen?

We're hearing from people around the league

starting to wonder that some outspoken people both on

social media and within the league circles that are are questioning what the

timeline might be and that leads me back to having to break that down and get that squared away is one thing and it does allow you to continue to plan and hopefully garner more draft picks. That's the whole point. If you move either of

them, you hope to get something back in return in the form of draft capital so that you can make

new selections on this coming draft class.

And even though it's pretty far-fetched for me to think that Sami Watkins is one guy that

could bring some value, Chris Jones certainly is, and even if he isn't, you have to continue your preparations in what is the strangest pre-draft process we've ever seen in the modern NFL and it comes back to let's roll with the assumption you're picking at 32 and you haven't gotten anything done.

Eventually there will be cap space something will have to be done.

And if that's a situation, we've seen a lot of mock drafts coming around towards the corner class is going to have some

value there that if they're stuck at 32 that they haven't gotten a higher pick and they haven't
