Could the root cause of chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension really be the same? In this video, I’ll show you how to prevent chronic illness by effectively addressing the root cause, rather than just the symptom.
“Based on my genetic report, identify which genes show adaptations to ancestral diets (hunter-gatherer, farming, natural). Then, explain how these same genes may create a mismatch with modern diets and environments. For each, show practical consequences and strategies to thrive today.”
0:00 Introduction: The #1 root cause of chronic disease
0:20 Medicine ignores the root cause of health problems
1:23 What causes chronic disease?
4:45 Genetics and chronic disease
10:16 Tips for chronic disease prevention
Medicine aims to label a disease and treat the symptoms with medication. Medication comes with side effects, which are then treated with more medication. Focusing on the root cause of health problems could help avoid numerous issues.
The average adult consumes over 50% of their calories from ultra-processed foods. Food is readily available, we’re constantly looking at screens, and we’re exposed to toxins like never before. Sterilized food and environments have caused underdeveloped immune systems and epidemic-level nutrient deficiencies.
Genetics plays a role in disease and immunity, but there’s more to it. Genetics can provide clues about potential health issues we may encounter if our diet and environment are not quite right.

| 0:00.0 | Today we're going to talk about the number one root cause of all chronic disease. If you take a |
| 0:06.6 | look at any disease, it goes through a cycle, and it starts with some root cause, and then it goes |
| 0:12.2 | through a series of things inside your cells that start breaking down. So eventually you develop a |
| 0:17.8 | disease. In this case, it's type 2 diabetes. And what this video is about |
| 0:22.5 | is addressing what medicine completely ignores. What medicine focuses on is the late stage |
| 0:29.9 | symptom that occurs at the end of this evolution from start to actual disease creation. So their whole goal is to label this disease, |
| 0:41.4 | this symptom, and then treat it with a medication. The problem that I have with that model is that |
| 0:46.5 | there's side effects that occur and then those side effects are treated with another medication. |
| 0:51.8 | That's called polypharmacy. And if you take a look at a nursing |
| 0:56.0 | home or an assisted living home, you'll see people on seven to 10 or more drugs, some people, |
| 1:03.4 | up to 40 to 50 different medications. And so my viewpoint is that the more medications you give a person, the less healthy they're going to become. |
| 1:13.7 | And this really occurs because of the system. |
| 1:15.9 | If they were to focus on root causes, you'd be able to prevent so many problems. |
| 1:19.8 | But there's not a lot of money in focusing on a root cause. |
| 1:23.7 | So now the question is, what is the root cause of chronic illness? |
| 1:26.9 | I looked at this problem very deeply. kept narrowing down the list and said, well, wait |
| 1:32.3 | a second, there's an earlier thing to that. |
| 1:34.3 | So that's not a root cause. |
| 1:36.3 | And the list got shorter and shorter and shorter until I realized something. |
| 1:41.3 | Our environment has changed pretty fast, but our genes did not catch up to that. |
| 1:47.9 | We are in a completely different universe where you can get any food. It's available 24-7. |
| 1:54.6 | Over 50% of the calories in adults is ultra-processed food calories, something that we've never experienced way back in the day. |
