| 0:28.0 | It was another late night. I was asked to stay here because of the new rules that the administrators asked from all the businesses around here. |
| 0:37.0 | Food and snack stalls which remain open until they close the pier for the night. |
| 0:42.0 | Merchandising services were allowed to close at the regular times. |
| 0:46.0 | The owner was happy about it at first. |
| 0:49.0 | But we soon realized that few people like to walk around through the fog and the cold of the night around here. |
| 0:56.0 | I mean, who wants to walk all the way here just to get a burger or a donut? |
| 1:01.0 | Eh, what am I saying? I know why I do it. |
| 1:05.0 | 8 p.m. used to be your closing time and by then I would have already wiped down the bench out by the edges of the wooden fencing that looked out into the darkness of the sea. |
| 1:15.0 | I like to turn off the lights early, that way I could at least see out into the water. |
| 1:20.0 | A strange thing, right? Light makes us blind to the outside. |
| 1:25.0 | And I could do it too because that was the last one there almost every night. |
| 1:30.0 | I would see those college students make their way here to get a donut, sometimes split one with one another, and just hang out by the fencing, dropping pieces of the sugary bread down into the water, laughing with each other. |
| 1:44.0 | These Saline on the wobbly posts, the same ones that were being used to cut up guts from tiny fish that were later used as bait by the old guys, who were there a few hours earlier. |
| 1:55.0 | I wouldn't hose it down until closing time, and I thought about cleaning up before the other customers got there, but I lost track of time and never got around to it. |
| 2:05.0 | I was waiting for them. I knew they came down on Fridays and sometimes Thursdays. |
| 2:10.0 | They had gotten to know me as Ryan, and I don't know where they got that name, but it stuck, and I just never corrected them. |
| 2:19.0 | I should have been in school too. That was about their age. |
