Summary

In this episode Costi Hinn breaks down what every Christian should be able to expect from their pastors, and how a Christian should go about leaving a church that isn't being served by faithful leaders. If we're told to "submit to leaders" (Hebrews 13:17), we'd better make sure we're submitting to the right ones.

Welcome to the Further Gospel Podcast. My name is Kasi Hind and I have the pleasure of

0:14.1

being your host today. I'm flying solo as I answer a question that we have continued

0:19.5

to get on social media in direct messages on all our platforms and even via email with

0:24.6

the contact form that's on our website. And the question really is about pastors. What

0:29.9

kind of pastor should I be submitting to? Who should I be following? What is a pastor

0:35.6

going to look like that I can trust? This is a really important question. Our ministry

0:41.9

is all about providing sound doctrine for everyday people and I don't know about you,

0:46.4

but I'm an everyday kind of guy as well that thinks pretty simply. If the Bible says

0:53.6

in Hebrews 13, 17 very clearly easy for everybody to understand. Submit to those who are

1:01.4

over you in the Lord for they keep watch over your soul as ones who are going to give

1:06.0

an account. We're not to do that causing them a lot of grief. Then we better know who

1:13.6

we're supposed to submit to. The logical question that everybody should be asking when

1:19.1

we look at a passage like Hebrews 13, 17 is that if the Bible says I'm to submit to

1:24.0

leaders or if I'm a leader, I look at that and think the Bible says I'm going to give

1:28.0

an account for the way that I cared for people's soul. Well, I sure better know that that

1:35.7

individual or if I am a pastor, I sure better know that my life matches what the Bible

1:41.0

says a pastor is to do and who a pastor is to be. And so that's where we're at today.

1:49.2

The first thing that I want to point out is the seriousness of pastoral ministry. It's

1:53.2

not a flippant calling. It's not an easy way to just hang with people and get a paycheck.

1:58.2

It's not something you do because you want power. A lot of people would have made better

2:02.0

CEOs and better entrepreneurs than they ever would a pastor or a shepherd of the flock

2:07.0

of God. It's not something that we want to do so we can get on the soapbox and monologue
