tennis. Why? Well, I stayed up last night and I watched Francis Tiafo advanced to the

semifinals of the U.S. Open.

Joe Yashiroff, my good friend, he's been a longtime sports TV producer in town, is a huge tennis guy.

He's been up at the open a little bit over the last week and a half.

He knows Tiafo's game. He knows the matchup with Taylor Fritz

on Friday. So we're going to do a little bit of tennis. Look, Francis Tiafo advancing to the

men's semifinal, second time for him in his career. And let me just remind everybody, Francis

Tiafo is local. You know, grew up in

College Park. Hyattesville was a big part of that college park tennis facility out there. But his

matchup with Taylor Fritz on Friday is an all-American semi-final, which guarantees an American man in a Grand Slam tennis final for the first time since 2009.

It's been 15 years since an American male was in a Grand Slam tennis final.

Andy Rodick lost to Roger Federer in the 2009 Wimbledon. It was a classic Wimbledon final. Fed won at 1614 in the fifth set. That's the last time

an American men's tennis player played in a grand slam final.

So the matchup between Tiafo and Fritz guarantees that we have an American male in the U.S. Open final on Sunday.

An American man hasn't won a Grand Slam final since Andy Roddock won the U.S. Open 21 years ago in 2003.
