I absolutely adore dogs. I know that's a pretty basic generic statement.

Most people love dogs for a ton of different reasons.

They're adorable, they're cute, they're fluffy, they're fierce, they're fabulous companions.

There's a whole variety and world of dogs out there.

And naturally, if you've got a dog, you want them to feel their best.

Maybe even look their best too.

Grooming is hugely important because you don't want them to be covered in dead hair

and brushing regularly will help with ventilation and growing a proper coat.

Grooming in bathing can also keep their skin and pores from being blocked and if you feel confident in

grooming your dog yourself then it's also a really great way to bond with your pet.

for some dogs show dogs in particular this pampering isn't just about practicality either, but about

looking their greatest for championships. Of course, it can get a bit extreme. Like when show dogs

have literally been decked out in makeup like nose paint fur dyes lipstick and

eyeliner I wish I was joking but that's apparently a real thing

this really feels like a slippery slope to me and truly I'm glad that dog shows are banning this. I mean, I know plenty of cheap makeup that isn't safe for humans, so let's not go around and create a whole other problematic industry because some people want dogs to have their eyes pop for some reason.

Unfortunately, this goes beyond some contouring on a pug and surgeries have become more and more common on animals, even house pets.

Some of it may be helpful, even medically necessary, but others go down a very dangerous harmful

path.
