You step out of whatever it is

and you get to look at yourself

and in front of Allah

and then you go back in the world.

Then you come out again.

Then you go in again.

So you never stay completely drowned.

You keep coming out.

It's your mini-umra.

It's your mini-haj.

That's what sala is.

Extreme consumption and all the behaviors I just talked about are extremes and

they're imbalances.

And the sala is a way of regulating human beings and making them balanced.
