Summary

Dave Rubin of The Rubin Report talks to Marian Tupy, editor of Humanprogress.org, about declining poverty, the myths of America's rising CO2 emissions, and what environmental activists get wrong about climate change. Marian shares statistics that no media outlet will cover. All long-term indicators show that poverty is declining around the globe. Marian credits international trade and multinational corporations for this success. Marian shares how the U.S. has reduced CO2 levels without having a green new deal or even joining the Paris agreement. Marian also confronts the arguments of climate change alarmists like Greta Thunberg and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who fear a world where we lose many lives to natural disasters caused by climate change. 0:59.2

When I quote this book, just in private conversations or when I have talks with people that things

1:04.3

aren't getting so bad, there's a real resistance to it like they can't believe it.

Yes, absolutely.

1:13.0

Look, human beings have evolved to be pessimistic.

1:17.6

Essentially our species is about 300,000 years old and for most of that time life was

1:23.9

extremely difficult.

1:26.7

The world was much less hospitable to human beings and so it paid to be pessimistic, to

1:32.9

expect bad things happen.

1:35.7

Any organism that understates the threats may then be destroyed, eaten, killed by predators.
